‘Film, Dialects and Subtitles: An Analytical Framework for the Study of Non-standard Varieties in Subtitling’. ‘Multimodal corpora analysis of subtitling’ in TARGET: International Journal of Translation Studies 31:3. The main publications of this project are: STAGE 4 is currently focused on building analytical tools for translators to support a faster and informed analysis of the audiovisual scene and choice of most adequate translation strategy.

STAGE 3 focused on collecting reception and perception data aiming at: a) examining the impact of the identified translation strategies on viewers’ interpretation b) confronting translators assumptions with empirical data and c) sheding light on viewers attitudes and opinions in relation to subtitling strategies. STAGE 2 focused on subtitling, and building on multimodal studies, it went on to develop an innovative analytical framework that allowed a multimodal corpus analysis of subtitling. STAGE 1 focused on a descriptive study identifying the strategies used in translation (book, theatre and subtitling) and how these correlate with variables such as medium, date, function and genre. To identify the strategies used in the translation of linguistic varieties and examine their impact on target audience's interpretation.
